What is a vindicatory miracle
A vindicatory miracle is an extraordinary event presented as a confirmation, or vindication, of a specific truth of faith: for example the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, or the divine motherhood of Mary.
Vindicatory miracles and divine miracles
Not every miracle is vindicatory. We call “divine” the miracles understood as special graces granted to a person, usually healings, that do not attest a message. This site catalogues vindicatory miracles, that is, those that attest a specific truth.
How to read the entries
Each entry gives the place, the date, the state of recognition by the competent authority (the meaning of each status is explained on the Recognition statuses page) and the truths the event is meant to vindicate. Claims are backed by sources, listed at the bottom of the page.
A sober method
Entries also report the most serious objections, because a fact is judged by weighing all the reasons. Readers are encouraged to consult the sources directly.
